David White Obituary

David L. White, age 65, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at Bethel Home in Oshkosh.  He was born in Janesville on February 2, 1961 to the late William and Catherine (Fuder) White.

Dave graduated from Milton High School with the class of 1979 before continuing his education at UW Whitewater, where he earned a degree in journalism in 1983.  Though he built a successful career in the insurance industry and dedicated his entire professional life to serving others through his work, his true passion was always sports.  With his knowledge, wit and love of the game, he would have made an outstanding sports writer.

On June 9, 1983, Dave married the love of his life, Diane Cullen.  Together they built a life centered around family, friends, faith and fandom.  They are proud season ticket holders for the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badger Football and Basketball teams, and for many years the UW Green Bay Men’s Basketball team.  He rarely missed the annual WIAA Boys State Basketball Tournament, a tradition he looked forward to with his family and friends every year.

An avid golfer, Dave treasured time spent on the course with friends and family.  Yet nothing brought him greater pride and joy than his children.  He loved following their activities and was deeply committed to coaching and encouraging them as they grew.

Dave was a proud member of the Kaukauna Lions Club.  Of all the titles he held, one of his greatest was “grandpa.”  He was Taytum and Tucker’s biggest fan and his love for them was boundless.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Diane; children:  Amy (Kyle) Fassbender and Danny (Amy) White; grandchildren:  Taytum and Tucker Fassbender; brother, Dan (Jenny) White; brother-in-law, Richard (Kathy) Cullen; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Dave was preceded in death by his parents, William and Catherine White; infant sister, Camille White; father and mother-in-law, Dean and Betty Cullen; brothers-in-law: Scot Cullen and Larry Cullen.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 724 E. South River Street, Appleton. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established to benefit some of Dave’s favorite charities.  For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com

The White family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staffs of Bethel Home and Bristol Hospice for their loving and compassionate care for Dave, and to their friends and family for all of their support through this past year.
